Today I will introduce another new feature of the site - Album Reviews! Once a week I will review an album and post it here.
After a four-year break, Christina Aguilera released her highly - anticipated album ‘Bionic’ in 2010. Was it worth the hype? Below is a track by track review of the album. Interludes are not reviewed.
1. Bionic 9/10 - A futuristic song that kicks the album off in a spectacular fashion.
2. Not Myself Tonight 8.5/10 - The first single that everyone either loves or hates. I love it even with it’s dated sound and lack of melody. It makes you want to dance and be not yourself tonight. The only flaw is the Britney like moaning and panting at the end which is just awful.
3. Woohoo 3.5/10 - I just don’t like it. Skip!
4. Elastic Love 8/10 - A catch song that features Christina singing in a very monotone voice. I like it and the production i really cool.
5. Desnudate 6/10 - It grows on you but it is still not that good. Something about it just doesn’t sound right.
6. Glam 6/10 - Another grower that is catchy but never really gets going.
7. Prima Donna 9/10 - FINALLY! A classic Christina vocal with a catchy chorus. Single material!
8. Sex for Breakfast 2/10 - The worst song on the album by far. I like sex being hinted around at in songs but there is not even a veil over it in this song.
9. Lift Me Up 8/10 - A great song with a fantastic message. Would sound better without all of the instruments in a more stripped-down approach.
10. All I Need 7/10 - A good ballad but yet again never reaches its full potential.
11. I Am 8/10 - Another ballad in which Christina sings instead of the yelling in her usual fashion. One of the best ballads on the album.
12. You Lost Me 10/10 - WOW! One of the best (if not the best) songs on the album. A restrained delivery at the beginning ends in a dramatic climax.
13. I Hate Boys 9/10- A catchy uptempo song that would do well as a single. It kind of falls flat after You Lost Me though.
14. My Girls 5/10 - A song you either love or hate. I hate it.
15. Vanity 4/10 - What is there to say? Awful.
16. Monday Morning 3/10 - Another skip.
17. I Am (Stripped) 7/10 - A stripped down version of the previously mentioned I Am, brings the album back to life with a excellent vocal by Christina.
18. Bobblehead 3/10 - WTF?
19. Birds of Prey 6/10 - It’s a good song (especially after Booblehead) but it just isn’t my type of music.
20. Stronger than Ever 10/10- The album goes out with a bang! This should have started off the album.
FINAL THOUGHTS: While the album has some duds, the gems make the album worthwhile. If some of the bad tracks were cut out, this album would have a much higher rating.
